Meisje

Jill's Journal: This big black dog is no ordinary dog. She’s part human. She’s also the closest thing to a cousin my girls have for the time being. They absolutely, positively, completely ADORE Meisje, even if the love isn’t entirely mutual (although Meisje sure is patient with these little girls and I’m forever grateful to her for it).

Her name means “little girl” in a dialect of Dutch and is pronounced “may-she.” She was born the same year as Erika, so none of the girls have known Aunt Kristi without her. Meisje was the ring bearer to my girls' roles as flower girls at Kristi and Adam's wedding.

Mesije even gets to ride in our car, much to three little girls’ great amusement.
