Jill's Journal: One of our little family traditions is annual birthday photos. Not pictures of me or Rob (!), but of the girls. Every year on the morning of her birthday, each girl gets a little special “date” with just Mommy and we go get professional pictures taken. They look forward to it and enjoy the time and we love having the official photo record of how much they’ve changed and grown from year to year.
Being on the road makes things a little different, however. This time, I didn’t have the luxury of leaving the other sisters at home with Rob while Victoria and I got her birthday pictures taken. And, since we’re not generally in any place for a great length of time, we need photographers with a quick turn-around. Even in this digital world, the best ones seem to take their time with images and it can sometimes be days before photos are ready for viewing and even longer before they’re printed. But if sacrificing picture quality is the price we pay for our adventures, I’m certainly willing.
We had another hitch – even though I searched, Rhode Island didn’t seem to be a hotbed for photographers and we had to wait until we got to Massachusetts to get photos done. So, Victoria’s pictures today were four days overdue. Minor in the scheme of things, I’m sure, but the OCD part of me hates that! Oh well, the pictures of the little girl with the big personality still turned out pretty cute.
