Jill's Journal: Two more days of wintery weather, dusk-like conditions, and cold, cruel rain made it very clear we’ve overstayed our welcome in the Northeast. We’ve known it, of course, but have been in a little bit of denial as we’ve just been having so much fun. But there’s no more denying it; it’s time for us to head to warmer locales very, very soon and we know it.
Late this afternoon, we packed up and got a few hours of driving under our belts before calling it a night in a random Wal-mart parking lot in Erie, Pennsylvania. It’s only the second time in the five months we’ve lived in a house on wheels that we’ve taken advantage of Wal-mart’s RV-friendly policy and God bless them for it.
Luckily, it’s stopped raining, but we’ve exchanged rain for snow! We’ve learned the hard way that Old Man Winter comes a lot earlier around these parts than what we’re accustomed to. Next year we’ll have much more respect for the weather and just how much it plays into this experience.
