What’s Not to Love?

Jill's Journal: And this is why we are loving Maine! Isn’t it beautiful?

Portland Head Light, the oldest lighthouse in Maine, is located in Fort Williams Park at Cape Elizabeth. Construction was begun in 1787 under the order of George Washington when Maine was still part of Massachusetts.

The lighthouse was first lit in 1791 with whale oil lamps and is one of only four colonial lighthouses still standing (that have never been rebuilt). The girls absolutely LOVED it (and our nice hike around the 90-acre park with umpteen fabulous ocean views)!

You could make this into a postcard and make lots of people happy. Just what I always dreamed it would look like. GORGEOUS!
