Tahoe Basin

Jill's Journal: Coming over the mountain into the Tahoe basin today, there was excitement in the air. Rob has been looking forward to this stop for…well, months. He’s been so looking forward to it that he’s even taken vacation from work, which is probably normal in other households. But in our house, Rob is on call 24 hours a day and the whole concept is just a wild and wonderful phenomenon for us. I think he’s even turned his computer off. If you know Rob, you are saying, “No way!” at this very moment.

This is home for Rob. He grew up in Tahoe, albeit on a different shore than the one we’re starting on. We’re even starting in a different state – Nevada instead of California (yes, to answer the most common question about Tahoe, the massive lake is part of two states) – but I suspect it’ll do just fine for this week. I also suspect we’ll be in the Tahoe area longer than a week. We have so many fun things planned, starting with tomorrow.

Oh come on now, do you really expect us to believe he turned it OFF? ;)

okay, so I must finally ask. How do you get those great shots of your trailer on the road in whatever area you are in? Are you driving another car behind Rob and the trailer??

This is so cool and such an important reminder of what's really important in life...I have been so sad for our family since they don't know us, it is far out of reach to get us all home. Treasure every moment...such blessings!

LOL Gary, yes, you know him well. He really did turn it off...for a couple of hours anyway. :)

Katie, I just jog along behind waiting for photo opportunities! No, the girls and I drive the van behind Rob and the trailer. His truck does not fit all of us comfortably plus is way too big (a dually) for me to be at ease driving as a family car in unfamiliar cities.

Andrea, you're so right. We are so enjoying this beautiful place and being with wonderful family to boot. Life is good! I hope your family is able to reunite soon.
