Tahoe Stats

Jill's Journal: Some interesting statistics:

*Lake Tahoe is the largest alpine lake in North America
*Tahoe is the second-deepest lake in the United States, behind Crater Lake
*Maximum depth is 1,644 feet
*Tahoe covers an area of 195 square miles
*21.3 miles long, 12.2 miles wide
*Natural rim is 6,223 feet
*Tahoe holds enough water to cover the entire state of California in 14 inches
*Tahoe’s water is 99.9% pure
*Two-thirds of Tahoe is in California, one-third in Nevada

And the photo above, where the house in the middle stands in Tahoe City, is the spot Rob where spent the first nearly-18 years of his life. The home his family built and lived in is no longer standing and has been replaced by the new owners, but Rob woke up every morning to a magnificent view of Lake Tahoe. It was a little bittersweet for him last week to see it from a different perspective, here from the water.

If Tahoe was home for me, I'm quite certain I'd miss it too! Hope you get to make a trip back soon. I told Victoria her pen pal got her note and she was all happy smiles. :)

I can't believe how much the trees at the water level have grown to block the view from the house. Although the new house is several stories now. The sugar pine on the corner near Ron and Caroline's old house has become hugh. We used to trim the trees with the stihls beetle so as not to obscure the view. I find it a little heartbreaking not to clearly see the house as it is on a point of land and was clearly visible from the water when I sold it. My, my how times and attitudes have changed.

You will get a kick out of this...Maryn was so upset he didn't have one (he is ALL about exactly what Detta does) that I invented one for him (i.e. ME!) lol

Goodness! That sounds absolutely brutal. So glad you're on the mend. (And maybe time to make nice with the dentist -- you don't want to go through this again!). Yikes!
